For example, the Kia EV3 is a compact electric SUV with a range of up to 605 kilometres according to WLTP when equipped with the larger battery.
This makes Kia an interesting choice for anyone considering switching to an electric car. If most of your everyday driving takes place in the city, a compact EV3 may be a good fit. If you need more space or regularly drive longer distances, Kia also offers larger electric models.
Hybrid, plug-in hybrid or electric?
Not every driver needs the same type of car, and Kia’s range allows you to choose based on how much you want to rely on electric power.
A hybrid is a good choice if you want to reduce fuel consumption but do not want to charge the car. A hybrid uses both a petrol engine and an electric motor while driving, with the battery charged through regenerative braking and while the car is moving.
A plug-in hybrid allows you to charge the battery using an external charger and complete part of your everyday driving on electric power. On longer journeys, you can use the petrol engine, meaning you do not have to rely entirely on charging availability.
A fully electric car is best suited to drivers who want to drive entirely on electric power and have convenient access to regular charging. Kia’s current range includes several fully electric models with different sizes and driving ranges.
Modern design is about more than looks for Kia
Kia’s current models share a clearly recognisable design language, while each model has its own distinctive appearance. In electric models, the design is also closely linked to aerodynamics and the technical characteristics of an electric vehicle.
Kia describes the design philosophy behind its new electric models as “Opposites United”, which aims to bring together contrasting qualities such as technology and nature, or sportiness and practicality. This can be seen, for example, in the EV3 and EV5, whose designs differ from those of traditional SUVs and passenger cars.
Technology that has become part of everyday driving
In Kia’s newer models, much of the driving experience is built around a digital driving environment, connectivity and driver assistance systems. Software updates and battery and charging management are also becoming increasingly important, particularly in electric vehicles.
This matters especially with an electric car, because the driving experience is no longer determined by the engine and transmission alone. Charging speed, driving range, energy consumption and vehicle software can have just as much impact on everyday use as fuel consumption and service intervals do in a traditional car.
